Artisans of the valley

See, try and buy!

Cheese & chestnut flour from Medicina

High up in the village of Medicina you’ll find a shepherd named Stefano. Passionate about farming the land and keeping old traditions alive, his main activites are producing Pecorino cheese from his sheep and producing sweet chestnut flour in the late autumn, as has been done in the valley for centuries.

Copperware of San Quirico

In the village of San Quirico you will find an artisan making kitchenware from copper - a material so beautiful that you might end up using the pans as decoration alone.

Honey and olive oil from Vellano

Working the land is starting to see something of a renaissance, and young Italians are once again seeking to escape from the cities and towns and looking to make a living connected to land. On the road between Pietrabuona and Vellano you will find one such young family. They produce high quality organic honey and olive oil at their small farm on the roadside and are happy for you to stop by to taste and buy some of their produce, whether to consume while here or to take back (or ship) home.
